Coaching is the premier service offered by BluOpal ® Consulting. Coaching is powerful individualized support for leaders over time that provides unique benefits in leadership development. It differs from mentoring in that coaching seeks to evoke and self sustain the leader's own power rather than to direct or instruct. It differs from therapy because it focuses on today and the future rather than seeking to resolve old emotional injuries.
The powerful essence of BluOpal Coaching is created by three elements: focusing, awakening, and sustaining. Coaching is often combined with Consulting and Learning to create a comprehensive, sustainable result in a strategic initiative.
- Focusing sets clear objectives for Coaching established by the organization and by the client. Organizational objectives may include support for strategy implementation, leadership team development, or improving operational effectiveness. The client also sets personal objectives in such areas as leadership skills, work/life balance, and leading challenging initiatives.
- Awakening is the discovery of purpose and passion within the client. It is the clarification of values, the alignment of personal and organizational direction, and the braid between individual journey and leading the way with others. Awakening focuses on individual strengths, breaks away limiting beliefs, and justifies powerful action to achieve results.
- Sustaining is the support over time in which the coach holds the client accountable to the desired objectives. During the coaching period, the client discusses progress, tackles challenging hurdles, and balances the great demands of leadership. The coach helps the client to apply leadership behaviors through the real examples of everyday work.
Communication between the client and the supervisor takes place at regular intervals before, during, and after the coaching period to agree on outcomes, discuss progress, and recognize achievements.
